The Craft of Polki

MOULDING

The mould specialists, known as Chiterias creates the basic design as per jewellery sketch; then he outlines the pattern on gold surface. The Ghaarias then engage in engraving the mould and making holes, to make it stand out with a rich-antiquated feel.
ENAMELING
Enameling the next process involves the enameller to even the surface and fusing it to the gold with repeated firing at different temperatures.

PLACEMENT

Subsequently the jadiyas set stones such as jade, emerald, etc. in to the kundan or gold, to set the highly delicate Polkis (uncut diamonds).
